The best way to present a large number of pictures is to add them to a slideshow. If you create a slideshow in PowerPoint or other similar programs, you may not be able to play it on other computers. A better solution is to create a video slideshow, because finding the appropriate video codecs is much easier than installing a suitable program to play a slideshow. IphotoDVD can help you with such projects. It gives you the possibility of creating slideshows, with custom transition effects and durations, which can be exported as a video file. Additionally, the software can make the necessary preparations for turning the slideshow into a video DVD.

IphotoDVD is free to try for a limited period of time, but without any serious restrictions. It is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it can be installed quickly, without any effort. You don't need to install any additional codecs for this program and you won't notice any significant impact on your computer's performance while running it.

Creating a slideshow is a straightforward operation. It is sufficient to import your pictures and an audio file and click a button, located on a toolbar, to export your project, but you can make other settings along the way. Imported pictures are displayed as thumbnails, in the central region of the interface and you can preview them on the right side, where you can also set up a transition speed and interval for the currently selected image or for all images at once.

The available transition effects are neatly categorized in a tree structure, on the left side of the interface. You can apply an effect instantly, just by selecting a picture and the effect, in this order. Applied effects can be reviewed in the same preview area, on the right side of the window. If you can't decide what effects to apply, you can let the software choose for you, by selecting the Random option, in the same tree structure.

Besides importing pictures and applying transition effects, you can also add soundtracks to your slideshow. All you have to do is import one or more audio files, on the same interface, but on a different tab. You can preview your entire slideshow on a separate window and if you are satisfied, you can export it. The software allows you to render the slideshow using the NTSC or PAL standards. By default, the slideshow will be rendered in MPEG format, but you can tick an option if you wish to separate the video and audio and use them to create a DVD later.

Pros

Slideshows can be created fast, without any effort. The software comes with numerous transition effects, which can be applied instantly. Besides exporting slideshows as a standard video file, the software can also separate the soundtrack from the video, so you can create a DVD.

Cons

You can't export a slideshow without a soundtrack. Thanks to IphotoDVD's straightforward and easy to understand functionality, slideshows can be presented on any computer or DVD player.
